Subjective feeling out of 10 on:

Enjoyment: 7/10 - it got harder towards the end of the day as we knew we weren’t going to get to where we wanted to get to. We struggled to get the final 6 miles in. We would have been walking till very late - so we decided to get collected at an earlier town.

Fatigue: 5/10

Ease of terrain: 5 /10 - some steeper and harder sections.

Highlights - seeing dolphins 🐬 in the morning. meeting up with Arry @arrycain, Drew & Elvis. Who met us just before New Quay and walked with us. Arry swapped packs with me - which was awesome. Seeing the Mermaid 🧜‍♀️ status at the half way point, and eating chips with a view of the beach.

Challenges - We did go off in the wrong direction in the afternoon and ended up walking along a very steep cliff path, we then had to backtrack and head up hill to get back to the WCP.

Total miles on the WCP: 469/870

💰Costs: £10 camping

Food: £3.15 dinner - chicken burger from the spar hot deli. £8.58 Breakfast for tomorrow & snacks.

Subjective feeling out of 10 on:

Enjoyment: 6/10

Fatigue: 5/10 - Twice I felt pretty wiped - so stopped and had some food and then I was good again.

Ease of terrain: 5/10 - everyone kept saying how hard today would be but I didn’t feel as though it was that bad. there were few tough small sections but they were only about 50 steps or lasted about 45 seconds. so it’s not like they went on forever and I think also for me when I compare it to the Appalachian Trial or the Lycian Way. It’s not that challenging. Obviously things could change over the next few days but I thought the first day was okay 👌

Highlights - some great views of the coast. Having the sun come out later on.

Challenges - black flies & the rain.

Highlights: rainbow 🌈 in the morning, stunning cliff & coastal views. Finding accommodation at the last moment as everything else was booked up and the youth hostel we wanted to stay at don’t take individual bookings.

Challenges - the rain and the wind. The wind was so bad (25 -35mph gusts) we decided not to carry on as it wouldn’t have been safe to continue walking on the next stretch of coast. We stopped at a cafe to plan what to do next.

Subjective feeling out of 10 on:

Enjoyment: 6/10

Fatigue: 3/10

Ease of terrain: 4 /10

Highlights - thinking we were seeing seals but really it was just rocks in the water! We eventually did see 2 playing!

🧦Washing my socks and getting my hiking boots dry.

🚿Also having a hot shower amazing (although I still have not washed my hair since staying with Sally Kettle 😝). Although this section is meant to be one of the most remote we have seen the most hikers/walkers we’ve seen yet - loads of people out on the trail.

Challenges - 💨The wind later in the afternoon was getting really strong we checked on the weather app and it was about 25 mph. Which did make it very challenging when the headlands were exposed.
