Subjective feeling out of 10 on:
Enjoyment: 6/10
Fatigue: 4/10 - not as many rest breaks today but still felt okay
Ease of terrain: 4/10 - flat and relative easy-going it’s just hard on your feet 🦶
⭐️Highlights: some beautiful little villages. Stunning flowers. lovely to be by the water 🌊. Plus I had a great breakfast BAP which set me up for the rest of the day.
🏔️Challenges: long long day today lots of hard roads and cycle paths. Which is so hard on your feet. But it was flat which is a positive.
💭Thoughts: when it’s colder in the evening, it’s not so pleasant when you’ve got to wait to put up your tent.

💰Costs: £14.85 Tesco
£0.80 blackcurrant & water
£9 soup & gf bread

Subjective feeling out of 10 on:
Enjoyment: 7/10
Fatigue: 4/10
Ease of terrain: 4/10
⭐️Highlights: the little seaside village Clovelly. Which is reached by a fabulous cobbled road. No cars allowed! Chilling out in the local pub and having a lovely dinner. Going to charge my electronics before heading out for a final hour of walking.
🏔️Challenges: I felt very tired in the morning. Especially waking up at 6:30. It’s just too early for me. But I did need to leave at that time.
💭Thoughts: I’ve just heard about a massive festival which is happening in Newquay about the same time that I am going to be arriving. So I actually need to do some planning. To figure out how to get ahead of this. And what that would look like in terms of mileage per day.
Day 8🥾South West Coast Path 🏴, UK National Trail 🇬🇧 📍Supported by ZOLEO @zoleolifeeurope #ChallengeWithZoleo
ℹ️Stats: Sunday 4th August
Weather: cloudy & windy 🌬️
From: past mouth mill beach
Start time: 8.15
To: close to marsland cliff
End time: 9pm
Accommodation: wild camped 🏕️
Terrain: fields, coastal tracks & paths, a few up and downs. Some streams & mini waterfalls
🥾Km:16.7
🥾Miles: 10
🦶Steps:21,474
💰Costs: £3 sweets
£10.95 jacket potato with cheese & beans
£3.20 2x blackcurrant & water. I think I want to start tracking the cost of blackcurrant & water. So far the cheapest has been 80p and the most expensive £1.60… still cheaper than the blackcurrant & water on the Cotswold way. (£2.80 - still not over it. Sometimes I want to call up that place to doublecheck they didn’t overcharge me)
Subjective feeling out of 10 on:
Enjoyment: 6/10 I’m still having a great time even with the problems with my ankles & tiredness 💤
Fatigue: 5/10 - still feeding super tired. But I have a bit of a rest day tomorrow once I reach Bude.
Ease of terrain: 5/10 some beautiful coastal walking. but the ups and the downs… wow. Sometimes it’s none stop.
⭐️Highlights: stopped at Hartland Quay hotel for food and to charge electronics.
🏔️Challenges: walking across a field which had lots of divots in. I went over on my left ankle. So badly that had to stop and sit down and compose myself for about 20 minutes. Felt better, was able to walk on it. Walked less than 20m and then the same thing happened but even worse on my right ankle. Heard a little crack… My right ankle is now swelled up massively, however I can walk on it. Luckily, as I was walking there was an ambulance on the trail .So I popped over to the amazing paramedics. And they checked it out and bandaged it up and gave me some advice. They think I potentially have a hairline fracture and would like me to go to A&E to get an x-ray done….. I’m not sure I’m gonna do that. But I’ll see how I feel later on. So much for trying to take less ibuprofen.
💭Thoughts: this has to be one of the most beautiful trails I’ve ever walked. this is a world-class hike. I know there’s been a few challenges but the walking is absolutely fantastic. The scenery is some of the best I’ve ever seen. Really exciting to see if it continues like this.

Subjective feeling out of 10 on:

Fatigue: 6/10
Ease of terrain: 5/10
⭐️Highlights: having a hot shower my first one since the festival and getting into bed for 1:30 pm eating good food and watching Netflix.
🏔️Challenges: my right ankle is so swollen and it is throbbing quite a bit. But I don’t have the energy to go to A&E to wait for an x-ray to tell me I have a hairline fracture. When I know I’m gonna carry on walking anyway.
💭Thoughts: I’m so pleased that I booked accommodation three days ago. Decisions you make today do have consequences for the future. It was so nice to look forward to and it gave me peace of mind knowing that that I could get all my electronics charged, have a shower and do a full reset.

I’m waiting for the Sun to set 🌅
Such an incredible place to be I feel so privileged.😊
🏔️Challenges: I am moving so slowly. It’s not really stressing me out. It’s more of an observation. It’s taking me a long time to walk the miles I’ve done today. I thought I would’ve gotten a lot further. But it is what it is.🤷♀️
💭Thoughts: I am having feelings of awe while being out here. I knew the UK has some beautiful places. But the south-west Coast path is truly truly truly stunning. 😍
